After they were sold at auction, the Camarillo White Horses were in danger of dying out. In 1991, there were only 11 Camarillo White Horses in the entire world. In order to preserve the Camarillo family's legacy and save the breed, the Camarillo White Horse Association was founded in 1992.

While the numbers of this breed are still very low, it has persisted to the present. As of 2017, there are 21 Camarillo White Horses registered with the Camarillo White Horse Association, 17 of which live in Ventura County.

For a horse to count as a Camarillo White Horse, at least one of its parents must come from Sultan's lineage. Even non-white descendants are counted for breeding purposes, and the Association tracks both white and non-white foals.

Thanks to the efforts of the Camarillo White Horse Association and the efforts of independant breeders, including Adolfo Camarillo's great grandson, Harold Parker, Camarillo Whites are still around and are still trained for parade performance.
