Description
An account of the resource
This collection includes engineering and architectural drawings, maps, and other planning documents created by the Robert Martin and Associates civil engineering firm and later by USA Architects. Martin and Associates was at one time the largest such firm in Ventura County, and the collection represents 89 years of the County's built history of residential, commercial, and governmental areas. This collection includes records created by six civil engineers and their staff. The bulk of the collection was created by Harry B. Waud, Milton Ramelli, Robert Martin, T. William "Bill" Hale, and Ed Campbell.
Organization and Identification Numbers: The firm organized projects by three different numbers prefixed by the letters "F," "D," and "FB." F numbers refer to a folder or file. D numbers refer to a drawing. FB numbers refer to a field book. Field books are not currently held by the Museum and are held by the Ventura County Surveyor. The Museum uses these numbers to create identifiers for the items in this collection. The final two digits in an identifier number are used to indicate page number. There may be multiple items with the same or similar numbers.
Scope and Contents Note: This digital collection is not inclusive of all Martin and Associates documents in the Museum's collections. For more information on drawings and files that have not yet been digitized, refer to the Martin and Associates Finding Aid and File Index.
Funding: Digitization funded in part by a National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) Access to Historical Records Grant (RH-103424) awarded to the Museum of Ventura County. Funding also provided by the County of Ventura and private donors.
