Depicted in this photo is a building constructed in 1960 for the Standley Paint Company. Prior to moving to this location, the business had been located since the early 1950s on the west side of the street at 369 North Ventura Avenue. Founded by Cleo R. Standley, the store sold home, automotive and industrial paints. Standley also operated a compressor sales and service operation at 65 Fix Way in Ventura.

From circa 1980 until 1998 the business was owned and operated by Marilyn and Dennis Watters. The paint business merged in 1998 with D’angelos Industrial Coatings, an Oxnard company. That same year, the Watters opened Ventura Motorcycle Company in the building that had long served as a paint store. The building was vacant when this photo was taken in 2025.
